Respect. We all want it. And we can all give it.
It is a stereotype that youth are only interested in sex. Youth, like everyone else, want respect, love, and trust in their friendships and relationships.
So how do we get respect? We give it.
How does respect stop sexualized violence?
We believe that respect can change ideas about sexuality that contribute to violence. Respect challenges messages in media. It challenges stereotypes. Respect encourages us to communicate our sexual boundaries and desires. Respect promotes acceptance for difference.
Whether we are...
Sexually active, abstinent...
In a relationship, single, or dating...
Gay, straight, or bisexual...
Male, female, or transgender...
Religious, spiritual, or not...
We all have a right to respect.
Project Respect wants to stop sexualized violence by changing the underlying factors that cause it to happen. Check out each section to learn more about how to prevent sexualized violence.
